25 months after Matthew’s birth, and I’ve finally found “our song”.

It just happened one morning last week while on the way to school. Class95 played it, it was one of my favourites, and I heard the lyrics loud and clear with the ears of my heart. It is a love song, yes, and it sings of my love for this boy who’s completely stolen my heart from the moment he entered my world.

Songs have always done wonders for me. Some people look at a photograph and it takes them right back to a particular memory – photos seldom do that for me. Songs though, have a way of reaching right into my being, and clutching my heart with each of its lyrics and melody. And I get swept away, back in time, right to a particular moment when something special was happening to me – with that particular song playing.

Breakups, first kisses, reminiscence, in the depths of despair, while walking and mulling over what was and what would come, dances with those whom I had once given a piece of my heart to, memories that have much laughter in them, specific days in different offices where I’ve worked … these are but some of the memories I’ve had the privilege to revisit time and again with certain songs played.

I enjoy listening to lyrics. And I enjoy interpreting different songs my way. I claim Rod Stewart’s “Have I Told You Lately” as his love song to God. It could very well be. Not many lovers would say “There’s no one else above you … there’s a love that’s divine, and it’s yours and it’s mine like the sun… and at the end of the day, we should give thanks and pray to the one, to the one…”

Now, I have found my song for Matthew and I. It’s one that speaks everything I feel towards this boy:
